Good Causes

If you've been following my blog for awhile, you know that last year my little sister, a good friend and I participated in an urban adventure race called the Denver Oyster where we raised more than $2,500 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. On August 27, Team Cupcake Mafia will once again crack the Oyster and we hope to raise even more money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation with some great prizes as incentives to donate. I'll create another post soon about how to make a donation, but if you would like to contribute a prize for the giveaway, send me a note at lynn AT lynnzimm DOT com. Thank you in advance!

But first, a warmup event...
Before I get too ahead of myself, I'm also participating in another event where I have been asked to do some fundraising. Almost 60 people from my company are participating in the Colorado Bike MS event at the end of June. I'll be participating as a part of the team and riding my bike 150 miles over two days. We have set a team goal to raise $30,000. The money that is raised during this event will help the MS Society fund critical research that is working find a cure for multiple sclerosis*. I would like to help my company reach our goal.

Thank you for considering making a donation. I really do appreciate the support of my friends and family. Whether you give to this, the Oyster Make-A-Wish fundraiser, both or just cheer me on in my crazy athletic pursuits, I am really lucky to have such wonderful people in my life.

I'd like to do this one a little different than the Oyster. I have an awesome new loom sitting here without a project on it right now. So, for the first eight people who make a donation of $50 or more, I will weave you a scarf using a skein of hand painted yarn from my yarn stash. I'll work with each donor to find the perfect skein of yarn and create a custom, handmade scarf, just for you.

Here is an example of a scarf I've woven...

Scarves available: 5

To donate:
1. Click here to make a donation: Lynn's Bike MS Donation Page then click on the "Donate to Lynn" button and complete the form.
2. If you have donated $50 or more, send me an email at lynn AT lynnzimm DOT com (replace the capitalized words with the symbols) and tell me your favorite colors. I'll respond back with some yarn options for your scarf.

I'll keep this post updated with the number of scarves that are still available. I will try to get the scarves done as quickly as possible, but it may take me a couple of months to get all of the scarves completed. I promise to keep you posted on my progress and have them finished and out to the recipients in time so you can look fashionable in the cool fall weather.

Thank you again! Please let me know if you have any questions.

*Multiple Sclerosis affects people in the prime of their lives, between the ages of 20 and 50. Every hour someone is newly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. More than 2.5 million people worldwide live with this unpredictable disease. Having multiple sclerosis means that you may suddenly have blurry vision, that your memory will fail you for no apparent reason, or that you may not always be able to walk, let alone ride a bike. The symptoms of MS are different for everyone - the only certainty is that it will affect yet another person every hour of every day.

Indulgent?

Probably. But the 15 year old Old Lady Cat deserves to be spoiled. My iPad is her iPad. At this point, I really don't have a choice.

I found a fun new app - Paint for Cats. Xena is a huge fan.

I'm sure she'll be opening a gallery soon.

Weaving = Bliss

The new loom is all set up and we've been getting along quite well so far. My first project off the loom was a simple wool scarf made from Wollmeise yarn. A match made in heaven I think.
